BPM Finder with Tempo Verification

Analyze a local audio segment, compare tempo candidates and check the beat by tapping. Export the BPM you reviewed.

Find candidate tempos in your audio

Open a file from your device and choose a steady section with clear beats. We decode and analyze it in your browser. Your recording does not leave this page.

Check by tapping along

Listen to a steady section and tap the button on each beat. Use at least eight taps. A pause longer than three seconds starts a new sequence. You can also focus the button and use Space.

Taps0
Tap tempo… BPM

We use the median interval between taps. We exclude intervals shorter than 200 ms, longer than 3 seconds, or more than 30% away from the initial median. Exclusion counts stay visible so an uneven tapping sequence does not look more certain than it is.

How this analysis works

We choose the audio channel with the highest sampled energy, build a 100 Hz short-window energy envelope, emphasize increases in energy and compare the envelope with delayed copies of itself. Local correlation peaks produce candidates between 45 and 240 BPM. We refine each peak between nearby delay bins and show up to five distinct candidates.

This method can mistake subdivisions or repeated accents for the beat. Rubato, tempo changes, long intros and weak transients can produce ambiguous results. A candidate is an estimate for your selected segment, not a certified tempo for the entire track.

Understand your result

The browser compares repeating changes in short-window audio energy. Rhythmic correlation can confuse half-time, double-time and accents. Listen and tap before choosing a candidate; the result applies to your selected segment.
